Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BR:AGES), which rose 1.62% or 0.490 points to trade at 30.650 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 1.59% or 0.725 points to end at 46.210 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.36% or 0.39 points to 29.16 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which lost 2.29% or 2.65 points to trade at 113.10 in late trade. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 1.04% or 0.495 points to end at 47.310 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) shed 0.59% or 0.29 points to 49.91.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 83 to 57 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.43% or 5.75 to $1334.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.17% or 0.93 to hit $41.99 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.43% or 1.10 to trade at $44.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.0989, while EUR/GBP rose 0.10% to 0.8379.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.16% at 97.33.
