Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Chemicals, Real Estate and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Belgacom (BRU:BCOM), which rose 0.95% or 0.32 points to trade at 33.97 at the close. Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) added 0.79% or 0.43 points to end at 54.53 and Elia (BRU:ELI) was up 0.46% or 0.185 points to 40.615 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb), which lost 1.32% or 0.880 points to trade at 65.910 in late trade. Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB) declined 1.20% or 1.07 points to end at 88.25 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB) shed 0.89% or 1.00 points to 110.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 89 to 83 and 4 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.36% or 4.30 to $1200.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $51.72 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $58.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0591, while EUR/GBP fell 0.41% to 0.7219.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 99.67.
