Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.05% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay (BRU:SOLB), which rose 2.32% or 3.05 points to trade at 134.65 at the close. Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB) added 1.87% or 1.35 points to end at 73.44 and Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) was up 1.72% or 0.77 points to 45.13 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BRU:BPOST), which lost 1.92% or 0.49 points to trade at 25.09 in late trade. GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) declined 0.73% or 0.13 points to end at 18.07 and DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) shed 0.59% or 0.205 points to 34.610.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 103 to 72 and 4 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.33% or 15.60 to $1190.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.51% or 0.30 to hit $58.85 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.06 to trade at $66.41 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1153, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.7375.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 95.58.
