Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Healthcare and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB), which rose 1.70% or 0.52 points to trade at 31.13 at the close. Azelis Corporate Services NV (EBR:AZE) added 1.11% or 0.20 points to end at 18.22 and Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) was down 0.26% or 0.15 points to 56.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (EBR:UMI), which lost 2.92% or 0.31 points to trade at 10.29 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR:ABI) declined 2.62% or 1.38 points to end at 51.28 and Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS) shed 2.43% or 1.75 points to 70.17.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 19 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.38% or 9.96 to $2,652.56 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.20% or 0.14 to hit $69.08 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.13 to trade at $72.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 107.00.
