Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 1.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which rose 2.37% or 1.34 points to trade at 57.88 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 2.07% or 0.49 points to end at 24.15 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.28% or 0.96 points to 75.96 in late trade.
Biggest losers included bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which lost 22.77% or 2.58 points to trade at 8.75 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 4.66% or 1.24 points to end at 25.36 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) shed 4.34% or 1.69 points to 37.27.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 34 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.40 to $1243.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $53.00 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.53% or 0.33 to trade at $62.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1330, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.8936.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 96.990.
