Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Technology and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which rose 1.00% or 0.80 points to trade at 80.40 at the close. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) added 0.91% or 1.25 points to end at 138.70 and D’Ieteren NV (EBR:IETB) was up 0.81% or 1.60 points to 198.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS), which lost 3.43% or 2.97 points to trade at 83.57 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (EBR:ABI) declined 1.89% or 1.04 points to end at 54.12 and Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) shed 1.89% or 0.27 points to 14.03.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 57 to 32 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.17% or 4.05 to $2,340.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.12% or 0.10 to hit $81.64 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.14% or 0.12 to trade at $85.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 105.54.
