Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 1.18% or 0.10 points to trade at 8.17 at the close. Argen-X (BR:ARGX) added 0.98% or 0.90 points to end at 92.70 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was up 0.71% or 0.16 points to 22.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which lost 2.60% or 0.93 points to trade at 34.85 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 2.51% or 0.65 points to end at 25.21 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.14% or 1.060 points to 91.820.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 63 to 51 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.02% or 0.25 to $1282.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 2.61% or 1.41 to hit $52.63 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.68% or 1.68 to trade at $61.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.00% to 1.1364, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.8766.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 95.928.
