Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Utilities and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which rose 2.48% or 1.54 points to trade at 63.53 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 0.53% or 0.400 points to end at 75.700 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) was up 0.21% or 0.09 points to 43.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.17% or 0.17 points to trade at 14.33 in late trade. Sofina (BR:SOF) declined 0.73% or 0.90 points to end at 123.15 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.71% or 0.34 points to 47.47.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 47 and 12 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.39% or 5.08 to $1297.08 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.44% or 0.21 to hit $47.64 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.17% or 0.09 to trade at $52.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.66% to 1.1878, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.9223.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 92.68.
