Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS), which rose 4.61% or 3.55 points to trade at 80.55 at the close. Ageas (EBR:AGES) added 1.29% or 0.56 points to end at 44.14 and Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) was up 0.96% or 4.50 points to 471.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Proximus NV (EBR:PROX), which lost 3.19% or 0.22 points to trade at 6.68 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.59% or 0.66 points to end at 24.82 and Aedifica (EBR:AOO) shed 2.57% or 1.55 points to 58.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 46 to 36 and 21 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.64% or 15.70 to $2,467.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.57% or 2.67 to hit $77.40 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.07% or 2.40 to trade at $80.47 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.02% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 103.95.
