Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Banking, Real Estate and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Proximus NV (EBR:PROX), which rose 2.15% or 0.14 points to trade at 6.41 at the close. Melexis NV (EBR:MLXS) added 1.49% or 1.15 points to end at 78.40 and Sofina (EBR:SOF) was up 0.67% or 1.40 points to 210.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 2.52% or 0.58 points to trade at 22.40 in late trade. UCB SA (EBR:UCB) declined 2.38% or 3.75 points to end at 153.85 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) shed 1.83% or 0.57 points to 30.59.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 35 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.16% or 28.60 to $2,502.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.45% or 1.88 to hit $78.72 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.96% or 1.56 to trade at $81.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 103.00.
