Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Umicore SA (BR:UMI), which rose 1.57% or 0.67 points to trade at 43.32 at the close. Sofina (BR:SOF) added 1.31% or 1.80 points to end at 138.80 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 1.12% or 1.70 points to 153.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which lost 1.63% or 0.23 points to trade at 14.18 in late trade. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) declined 1.27% or 1.18 points to end at 92.03 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) shed 1.21% or 0.75 points to 61.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 64 to 45 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.20% or 16.10 to $1352.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.56% or 0.36 to hit $64.83 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.13% or 0.09 to trade at $69.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.74% to 1.2389, while EUR/GBP fell 0.66% to 0.8725.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.83% at 89.13.
