Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Utilities and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 1.96% or 1.30 points to trade at 67.50 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.31% or 0.560 points to end at 43.400 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.26% or 1.080 points to 86.920 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which lost 2.92% or 0.70 points to trade at 23.30 in late trade. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 2.00% or 2.35 points to end at 115.00 and Umicore SA (BR:UMI) shed 1.81% or 0.89 points to 48.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 54 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.06% or 0.80 to $1300.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.57% or 1.07 to hit $67.14 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.39 to trade at $78.11 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1662, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8774.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 94.10.
