Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 1.06% or 0.24 points to trade at 22.84 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 0.85% or 0.35 points to end at 41.34 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.48% or 0.07 points to 14.62 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which lost 2.13% or 1.02 points to trade at 46.92 in late trade. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 2.00% or 0.32 points to end at 15.68 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 1.71% or 0.40 points to 23.03.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 48 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.19% or 2.50 to $1291.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.42% or 0.30 to hit $71.19 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.39 to trade at $78.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.06% to 1.1788, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 93.47.
