Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Financials and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 2.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 6.90% or 2.775 points to trade at 43.015 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 4.72% or 2.125 points to end at 47.170 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 4.42% or 2.75 points to 65.01 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which lost 1.31% or 0.58 points to trade at 44.00 in late trade. Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) declined 1.24% or 0.61 points to end at 48.84 and Elia (BR:ELI) shed 0.44% or 0.210 points to 48.040.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 109 to 31 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.59% or 7.75 to $1316.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.77% or 0.82 to hit $47.15 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 0.78 to trade at $48.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.27% to 1.1055, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8310.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 96.36.
