Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which rose 2.65% or 0.270 points to trade at 10.470 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.36% or 0.980 points to end at 42.590 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 1.60% or 0.70 points to 44.52 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which lost 0.67% or 0.75 points to trade at 110.50 in late trade. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 0.28% or 0.130 points to end at 45.730 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) shed 0.21% or 0.06 points to 28.48.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 83 to 58 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.38% or 4.85 to $1261.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.42% or 1.05 to hit $44.49 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.76% or 1.64 to trade at $45.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1384, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.7880.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.18.
