Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Construction & Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI), which rose 2.05% or 2.25 points to trade at 111.80 at the close. UCB (BRU:UCB) added 1.54% or 1.11 points to end at 73.31 and Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) was up 1.51% or 0.27 points to 17.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group (BRU:TNET), which lost 0.89% or 0.48 points to trade at 53.32 in late trade. KBC (BRU:KBC) declined 0.47% or 0.300 points to end at 63.440 and Elia (BRU:ELI) shed 0.21% or 0.080 points to 38.065.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 92 to 78 and 3 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.58% or 6.30 to $1084.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.18% or 0.54 to hit $45.20 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.23% or 0.61 to trade at $49.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0872, while EUR/GBP fell 0.29% to 0.6972.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.19.
