Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Telecoms and Food Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.21% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 3.62% or 1.85 points to trade at 52.97 at the close. Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) added 2.12% or 1.76 points to end at 84.62 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 1.58% or 0.60 points to 38.81 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which lost 3.25% or 0.24 points to trade at 7.05 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.57% or 0.880 points to end at 55.110 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 1.37% or 0.22 points to 15.87.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 82 to 77 and 4 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 2.44% or 28.70 to $1147.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.09% or 0.04 to hit $45.90 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.17 to trade at $48.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.0960, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.7162.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 97.47.
