Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.21% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.35% or 0.15 points to trade at 11.24 at the close. Umicore NV (BR:UMI) added 1.28% or 0.64 points to end at 50.74 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.17% or 0.760 points to 65.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ageas (BR:AGES), which lost 0.90% or 0.335 points to trade at 36.915 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 0.33% or 0.045 points to end at 13.410 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) shed 0.23% or 0.10 points to 45.34.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 69 to 46 and 11 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.03% or 0.35 to $1238.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 1.80% or 0.97 to hit $54.75 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.50% or 0.84 to trade at $57.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.57% to 1.0551, while EUR/GBP fell 0.68% to 0.8461.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 101.34.
