Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB), which rose 6.03% or 6.45 points to trade at 113.40 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 1.07% or 1.05 points to end at 99.46 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 0.81% or 0.430 points to 53.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 2.38% or 1.75 points to trade at 71.86 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 0.68% or 0.330 points to end at 48.250 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) shed 0.53% or 0.14 points to 27.29.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 74 to 74 and 9 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.38% or 4.95 to $1316.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.98% or 1.33 to hit $43.37 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.79% or 1.31 to trade at $45.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1190, while EUR/GBP fell 0.73% to 0.8431.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.70.
