Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.13% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BR:AGES), which rose 0.91% or 0.290 points to trade at 32.045 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.72% or 0.10 points to end at 14.72 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 0.40% or 0.17 points to 43.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 0.54% or 0.265 points to trade at 48.500 in late trade. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) declined 0.48% or 0.55 points to end at 114.30 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) shed 0.20% or 0.04 points to 22.04.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 86 to 54 and 8 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.21% or 2.80 to $1330.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.24% or 0.99 to hit $45.14 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 0.65 to trade at $47.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1153, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8377.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 95.73.
