Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Media, Industrials and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.81% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 2.94% or 2.22 points to trade at 77.66 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 2.63% or 0.94 points to end at 36.67 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 2.63% or 2.300 points to 89.840 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET), which lost 1.90% or 0.76 points to trade at 39.30 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 0.60% or 0.15 points to end at 24.77 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) shed 0.48% or 0.44 points to 91.16.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 62 to 50 and 16 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.25% or 3.20 to $1288.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.55% or 1.29 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.00% or 1.18 to trade at $60.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.75% to 1.1388, while EUR/GBP rose 0.18% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 95.810.
