Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Financials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 2.10% or 0.29 points to trade at 14.10 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.40% or 1.030 points to end at 74.600 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 1.16% or 0.450 points to 39.355 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sofina (BR:SOF), which lost 1.03% or 1.30 points to trade at 124.80 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 1.00% or 0.42 points to end at 41.45 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) shed 0.74% or 0.30 points to 40.01.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 56 to 47 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.91% or 11.69 to $1278.71 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $47.51 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.22% or 0.11 to trade at $50.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.37% to 1.1736, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.9126.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 93.73.
