Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.52% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 6.12% or 0.638 points to trade at 11.058 at the close. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) added 6.03% or 1.62 points to end at 28.50 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.82% or 0.34 points to 19.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UCB (BR:UCB), which lost 1.90% or 1.50 points to trade at 77.44 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.62% or 1.440 points to end at 87.720 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.96% or 0.14 points to 13.96.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 44 and 17 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.19% or 2.55 to $1316.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.58% or 0.31 to hit $53.97 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.53 to trade at $62.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.29% to 1.1379, while EUR/GBP fell 0.32% to 0.8787.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 96.007.
