Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.45%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which rose 1.79% or 0.44 points to trade at 24.98 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 1.58% or 0.75 points to end at 48.35 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 1.09% or 1.25 points to 115.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 1.12% or 0.58 points to trade at 51.32 in late trade. Aperam SA (AS:APAM) declined 0.87% or 0.35 points to end at 39.95 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) shed 0.27% or 0.04 points to 13.03.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 72 to 39 and 19 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 3.30 to $1216.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $68.69 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.17% or 0.13 to trade at $76.26 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.49% to 1.1680, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.9060.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 94.69.
