Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Industrials and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.43% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.53% or 3.680 points to trade at 84.880 at the close. Umicore SA (BR:UMI) added 2.11% or 0.90 points to end at 43.51 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.97% or 1.32 points to 68.32 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 0.88% or 1.05 points to trade at 118.85 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 0.63% or 0.460 points to end at 72.940 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) shed 0.57% or 0.26 points to 45.34.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 66 to 45 and 22 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.36% or 4.70 to $1317.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.11% or 0.07 to hit $61.51 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.05 to trade at $67.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.48% to 1.1971, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8826.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 92.07.
