Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS), which rose 3.42% or 2.40 points to trade at 72.66 at the close. Elia (EBR:ELI) added 1.52% or 1.35 points to end at 90.00 and Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) was up 1.47% or 0.15 points to 10.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aedifica (EBR:AOO), which lost 2.76% or 1.60 points to trade at 56.45 in late trade. Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) declined 1.86% or 0.61 points to end at 32.10 and Cofinimmo SA (EBR:COFB) shed 1.67% or 0.95 points to 55.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 43 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.72% or 19.39 to $2,661.61 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.38% or 0.26 to hit $67.74 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.28 to trade at $71.56 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.89% to 1.05, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.64% at 106.50.
