Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Telecoms and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 1.11% or 0.28 points to trade at 25.49 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) added 0.97% or 0.580 points to end at 60.640 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 0.80% or 0.11 points to 13.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sofina (BR:SOF), which lost 1.36% or 2.40 points to trade at 174.60 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.15% or 1.060 points to end at 90.760 and Telenet Group Holding NV (BR:TNET) shed 1.08% or 0.42 points to 38.52.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 61 to 55 and 14 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.07% or 0.95 to $1284.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.79% or 0.95 to hit $52.06 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.63% or 1.00 to trade at $60.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1392, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.8720.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 95.727.
