Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BR:BPOST), which rose 1.69% or 0.41 points to trade at 24.66 at the close. Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 1.13% or 0.33 points to end at 29.09 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 0.96% or 0.53 points to 55.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which lost 1.36% or 1.75 points to trade at 126.90 in late trade. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 0.60% or 0.36 points to end at 59.97 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) shed 0.46% or 0.50 points to 108.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 66 to 49 and 13 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.13% or 1.64 to $1312.44 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.85% or 0.43 to hit $49.92 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.87% or 0.48 to trade at $55.00 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1981, while EUR/GBP rose 0.14% to 0.8869.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 91.66.
