Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Banking and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Syensqo SA (EBR:SYENS), which rose 1.65% or 1.33 points to trade at 82.15 at the close. Argen-X (EBR:ARGX) added 1.03% or 4.40 points to end at 430.90 and Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) was up 0.53% or 0.17 points to 32.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which lost 3.49% or 0.90 points to trade at 24.90 in late trade. Umicore SA (EBR:UMI) declined 1.33% or 0.19 points to end at 14.09 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 0.90% or 0.22 points to 24.24.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 51 to 41 and 18 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.47% or 35.70 to $2,464.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.14% or 0.92 to hit $79.92 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.04% or 0.88 to trade at $83.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 104.07.
