Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Utilities and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Aperam SA (AS:APAM), which rose 2.24% or 0.57 points to trade at 26.06 at the close. Anheuser Busch Inbev SA NV (BR:ABI) added 1.73% or 1.12 points to end at 65.70 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 1.30% or 0.530 points to 41.230 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which lost 1.67% or 1.520 points to trade at 89.240 in late trade. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.48% or 0.900 points to end at 59.740 and Sofina (BR:SOF) shed 1.15% or 2.00 points to 172.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 63 to 51 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.35% or 4.55 to $1279.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.08% or 0.57 to hit $53.19 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.13 to trade at $61.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.62% to 1.1309, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.8686.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.53% at 96.275.
