Investing.com – Australia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Healthcare and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Mesoblast Ltd (ASX:MSB), which rose 13.85% or 0.16 points to trade at 1.32 at the close. Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL) added 9.87% or 0.31 points to end at 3.45 and Polynovo Ltd (ASX:PNV) was up 7.47% or 0.18 points to 2.59 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Woodside Energy Ltd (ASX:WDS), which lost 3.74% or 1.07 points to trade at 27.53 in late trade. Domain Holdings Australia Ltd (ASX:DHG) declined 3.02% or 0.10 points to end at 3.21 and Regis Resources Ltd (ASX:RRL) shed 2.36% or 0.05 points to 1.87.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 592 to 525 and 443 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.74% to 11.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.17% or 4.00 to $2,390.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $78.39 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $82.46 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.21% to 0.66, while AUD/JPY fell 0.52% to 103.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 104.05.
