Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Travel & Leisure and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.25% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 1.76% or 0.1300 points to trade at 7.5100 at the close. Tenaris (MI:TENR) added 1.29% or 0.1400 points to end at 10.9900 and Enel (MI:ENEI) was up 0.95% or 0.0380 points to 4.0260 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset (MI:MS), which lost 3.04% or 0.120 points to trade at 3.830 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 2.38% or 0.0215 points to end at 0.8800 and Campari (MI:CPRI) shed 1.92% or 0.15 points to 7.91.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 262 to 161 and 9 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.93% or 0.35 to $37.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.98% or 0.40 to hit $39.87 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.15% or 1.60 to trade at $1073.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.86% to 1.0985, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.7247.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.78% at 97.64.
