Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.22% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which rose 8.26% or 1.14 points to trade at 14.94 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) added 5.38% or 0.32 points to end at 6.27 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) was up 4.79% or 0.36 points to 7.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3), which lost 3.35% or 0.26 points to trade at 7.49 in late trade. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 3.29% or 1.72 points to end at 50.52 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) shed 3.13% or 0.06 points to 1.86.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 182 to 147 and 7 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.11% to 46.15.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.85% or 9.00 to $1054.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 4.49% or 1.88 to hit $39.97 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.21% or 0.25 to trade at $120.28 .
USD/BRL was down 0.79% to 3.8245, while EUR/BRL fell 1.06% to 4.0583.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 100.06.
