Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 4.10% or 0.22 points to trade at 5.58 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 2.89% or 0.32 points to end at 11.39 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 2.61% or 1.00 points to 39.26 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11), which lost 3.38% or 0.91 points to trade at 26.05 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 3.20% or 0.56 points to end at 16.94 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) shed 2.69% or 0.78 points to 28.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 220 to 183 and 32 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.17% to 26.27 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.13% or 1.67 to $1240.23 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.55% or 0.72 to hit $47.31 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.88% or 1.18 to trade at $135.88 .
USD/BRL was down 0.21% to 3.1478, while EUR/BRL fell 0.60% to 3.6245.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 94.62.
