Investing.com – Belgium equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 2.48% or 0.375 points to trade at 15.475 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 2.45% or 1.09 points to end at 45.64 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 2.39% or 1.590 points to 68.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR), which lost 2.22% or 1.02 points to trade at 45.10 in late trade. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 1.37% or 0.42 points to end at 30.68 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) shed 0.84% or 0.90 points to 106.75.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 60 to 52 and 15 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.50% or 18.69 to $1223.61 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.56% or 0.72 to hit $46.76 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.33% or 0.65 to trade at $49.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.1366, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8773.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 95.91.
