Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 1.20% or 0.23 points to trade at 19.39 at the close. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) added 0.99% or 0.78 points to end at 79.32 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.19% or 0.160 points to 85.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 1.69% or 0.36 points to trade at 20.91 in late trade. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) declined 1.66% or 0.37 points to end at 21.98 and Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa) shed 1.17% or 0.295 points to 24.855.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 65 to 53 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 9.02% to 18.50 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.26% or 0.14 to $52.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.47% or 0.26 to hit $55.60 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.68% or 8.75 to trade at $1286.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.0625, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8485.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 100.39.
