Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 2.36% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Mediaset (MI:MS), which rose 31.86% or 0.866 points to trade at 3.584 at the close. Unicredit (MI:CRDI) added 15.92% or 0.3860 points to end at 2.8100 and FinecoBank Banca Fineco SpA (MI:FBK) was up 7.69% or 0.39 points to 5.46 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popolare (MI:BAPO), which lost 3.49% or 0.078 points to trade at 2.156 in late trade. Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) declined 3.03% or 0.0106 points to end at 0.3397 and Tenaris (MI:TENR) shed 1.44% or 0.24 points to 16.39.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 225 to 107 and 15 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.40% or 0.21 to $53.04 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.27% or 0.15 to hit $55.84 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.67% or 7.80 to trade at $1158.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0627, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8383.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 101.07.
