Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR), which rose 2.70% or 0.10 points to trade at 3.79 at the close. Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 2.41% or 0.020 points to end at 0.850 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 2.38% or 0.020 points to 0.830 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which lost 5.09% or 2.08 points to trade at 38.82 in late trade. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 3.64% or 0.020 points to end at 0.530 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) shed 2.17% or 1.00 points to 44.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 14 and 69 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.30% or 0.66 to $51.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.50% or 0.27 to hit $54.16 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.99% or 11.60 to trade at $1160.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.28% to 333.400, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 317.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.62% at 101.74.
