Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Electronic Parts/Components and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 2.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Leadtrend (TW:3588), which rose 10.00% or 3.60 points to trade at 39.60 at the close. Htc Corp (TW:2498) added 9.96% or 7.50 points to end at 82.80 and Ace Pillar (TW:8374) was up 9.90% or 1.50 points to 16.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mosel (TW:2342), which lost 4.90% or 0.120 points to trade at 2.330 in late trade. Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) declined 4.29% or 0.45 points to end at 10.05 and Aoc (TW:6289) shed 3.91% or 0.050 points to 1.230.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 581 to 168 and 97 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.74% or 0.76 to $44.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.68% or 0.77 to hit $46.54 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.69% or 9.05 to trade at $1319.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.85% to 31.425, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2096.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 95.85.
