Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Industrials and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 1.03%, while the MDAX index declined 0.86%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 4.71% or 0.545 points to trade at 12.120 at the close. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 1.36% or 1.200 points to end at 89.340 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 1.13% or 0.35 points to 31.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which lost 3.82% or 0.595 points to trade at 15.000 in late trade. Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) declined 2.94% or 3.950 points to end at 130.200 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) shed 2.40% or 1.780 points to 72.270.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Euroshop AG O.N. (DE:DEQGn) which rose 2.83% to 41.475, Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which was up 1.73% to settle at 12.320 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which gained 1.40% to close at 29.270.
The worst performers were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 5.55% to 9.70 in late trade, Airbus Group (F:AIRG) which lost 3.90% to settle at 53.190 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was down 3.31% to 33.78 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 2.68% to 15.300, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was up 1.95% to settle at 37.670 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which gained 1.59% to close at 51.250.
The worst performers were Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 4.88% to 7.213 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which lost 1.94% to settle at 25.00 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was down 1.85% to 255.000 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 595 to 275 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 2.38% to 21.12.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 2.45% or 29.65 to $1242.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.77% or 0.38 to hit $48.79 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.29 to trade at $49.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.60% to 1.1331, while EUR/GBP rose 0.92% to 0.7803.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.49% at 94.14.
