Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Building & Construction, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 declined 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Abertis Infr (MC:ABE), which rose 6.61% or 1.010 points to trade at 16.295 at the close. Banco Popular (MC:POP) added 6.22% or 0.038 points to end at 0.649 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) was up 0.63% or 0.010 points to 1.596 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which lost 5.96% or 0.424 points to trade at 6.696 in late trade. Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) declined 2.91% or 0.160 points to end at 5.339 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) shed 2.81% or 0.365 points to 12.600.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 132 to 34 and 17 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1291.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.59% or 0.31 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.94% or 0.52 to trade at $54.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.0701, while EUR/GBP fell 1.00% to 0.8384.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 99.69.
