Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Glass and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lily Textile (TW:1443), which rose 9.98% or 0.55 points to trade at 6.06 at the close. Azurewave (TW:3694) added 9.95% or 2.20 points to end at 24.30 and Kyet (TW:5225) was up 9.94% or 5.00 points to 55.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Asmedia (TW:5269), which lost 10.00% or 27.00 points to trade at 243.00 in late trade. Inotera Memo (TW:3474) declined 9.92% or 2.45 points to end at 22.25 and Hong Yi Fiber (TW:1452) shed 9.86% or 3.60 points to 32.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 678 to 164 and 2 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.93% or 0.52 to $55.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.10% or 0.67 to hit $59.66 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.13% or 1.50 to trade at $1166.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.59% to 30.933, while TWD/CNY fell 0.40% to 0.2001.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 96.47.
