Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Utilities, Beverage and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.84%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BRU:UCB), which rose 2.16% or 1.54 points to trade at 72.87 at the close. Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) added 0.79% or 0.440 points to end at 56.210 and bpost NV (BRU:BPOST) was up 0.18% or 0.04 points to 21.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which lost 3.08% or 0.29 points to trade at 9.07 in late trade. Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE) declined 2.80% or 0.44 points to end at 15.28 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI) shed 2.32% or 2.27 points to 95.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 100 to 53 and 3 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.81% or 8.90 to $1110.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.83% or 1.25 to hit $45.40 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.88% or 0.90 to trade at $48.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.1277, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.7297.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.47% at 95.50.
