Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction, Oil, Gas & Electricity and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.87% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165), which rose 10.00% or 1.65 points to trade at 18.15 at the close. Pqi (TW:6145) added 10.00% or 1.20 points to end at 13.20 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) was up 10.00% or 0.88 points to 9.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coadna (TW:4984), which lost 9.96% or 6.90 points to trade at 62.40 in late trade. Genius (TW:3406) declined 9.86% or 20.50 points to end at 187.50 and Yu Foung Intl (TW:1438) shed 7.72% or 0.420 points to 5.020.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 604 to 203 and 74 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.48% or 0.26 to $54.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.49% or 0.28 to hit $57.09 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.43% or 5.25 to trade at $1226.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.27% to 30.911, while TWD/CNY fell 0.68% to 0.2207.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 99.76.
