Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which rose 10.24% or 3.38 points to trade at 36.38 at the close. Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) added 3.85% or 10.00 points to end at 270.00 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) was up 2.53% or 0.42 points to 17.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which lost 4.92% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.580 in late trade. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 3.95% or 0.85 points to end at 20.85 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) shed 3.78% or 0.34 points to 8.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 44 to 32 and 22 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.75% or 0.35 to $46.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.59% or 0.29 to hit $48.62 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.48% or 5.88 to trade at $1233.38 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 2.46% to 350.960, while USD/NGN fell 10.13% to 314.550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 94.94.
