Investing.com – Turkey equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Sports, Electricity and Information Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 gained 2.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Vestel Beyaz Esya (IS:VESBE), which rose 18.05% or 1.590 points to trade at 10.400 at the close. Vestel (IS:VESTL) added 14.25% or 0.570 points to end at 4.570 and Teknosa IC Ve Dis Ticaret (IS:TKNSA) was up 9.90% or 0.680 points to 7.550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ipek Dogal Enerji (IS:IPEKE), which lost 2.01% or 0.060 points to trade at 2.920 in late trade. Koza Altin (IS:KOZAL) declined 1.61% or 0.45 points to end at 27.45 and Koza Madencilik (IS:KOZAA) shed 1.61% or 0.040 points to 2.450.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 363 to 40 and 13 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.82% or 9.70 to $1187.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.68% or 0.41 to hit $60.55 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.20 to trade at $65.08 a barrel.
USD/TRY was down 0.54% to 2.7382, while EUR/TRY fell 0.41% to 3.0966.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.48% at 94.71.
