Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.76% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 4.75% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.85 at the close. Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) added 4.39% or 1.50 points to end at 35.70 and Bbseguridad (SA:BBSE3) was up 3.82% or 1.30 points to 35.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3), which lost 2.39% or 0.21 points to trade at 8.57 in late trade. CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) declined 2.08% or 0.44 points to end at 20.76 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) shed 2.02% or 0.38 points to 18.42.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 151 to 114 and 7 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.38% to 34.45.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.20% or 14.30 to $1207.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.70% or 0.86 to hit $51.66 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.90% or 1.23 to trade at $135.20 .
USD/BRL was up 0.63% to 3.0772, while EUR/BRL rose 0.05% to 3.2607.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 99.67.
