Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Software & Computer Services and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 1.53% or 0.28 points to trade at 18.28 at the close. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) added 0.82% or 0.20 points to end at 23.84 and Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) was up 0.70% or 0.12 points to 18.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 5.31% or 0.28 points to trade at 5.06 in late trade. Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) declined 4.02% or 0.30 points to end at 7.25 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) shed 3.06% or 1.98 points to 62.69.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 113 to 60 and 2 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.76% to 20.06.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.34% or 1.03 to $42.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.84% or 0.88 to hit $46.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.02% or 0.20 to trade at $1166.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.18% to 1.1038, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7213.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 97.03.
