Investing.com – Italy equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB declined 2.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which rose 0.49% or 0.05 points to trade at 10.30 at the close. Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) added 0.08% or 0.01 points to end at 12.91 and Ansaldo STS (MILAN:STS) was down 0.21% or 0.02 points to 9.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset (MILAN:MS), which lost 4.47% or 0.198 points to trade at 4.236 in late trade. Mediolanum (MILAN:MED) declined 3.82% or 0.300 points to end at 7.550 and UBI Banca (MILAN:UBI) shed 3.54% or 0.265 points to 7.225.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 408 to 60 and 3 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.57% or 0.33 to $57.67 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.54% or 0.34 to hit $61.70 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.63% or 7.40 to trade at $1167.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.18% to 1.1105, while EUR/GBP fell 0.53% to 0.7276.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.05% at 96.49.
