Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Food & Beverages and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Basic Resources, Utilities and Media sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.38%, while the MDAX index lost 0.04%, and the TecDAX index added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which rose 1.28% or 1.010 points to trade at 79.990 at the close. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) added 0.59% or 0.540 points to end at 91.710 and Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) was up 0.57% or 0.20 points to 34.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which lost 3.06% or 0.480 points to trade at 15.200 in late trade. Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) declined 1.54% or 1.330 points to end at 84.820 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) shed 1.22% or 0.090 points to 7.282.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 1.72% to 37.250, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 1.54% to settle at 75.390 and Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which gained 1.35% to close at 40.50.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 1.51% to 31.260 in late trade, Metro AG ST O.N. (DE:MEOG) which lost 1.43% to settle at 29.025 and Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was down 1.06% to 51.210 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 3.99% to 41.855, SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which was up 1.47% to settle at 23.755 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which gained 1.14% to close at 96.760.
The worst performers were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 1.41% to 12.349 in late trade, Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which lost 1.36% to settle at 11.970 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which was down 1.17% to 55.910 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 425 to 311 and 32 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 3.26% to 20.63 a new 3-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.72% or 9.15 to $1287.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.26% or 0.14 to hit $52.97 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.24 to trade at $55.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.0630, while EUR/GBP fell 0.20% to 0.8490.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 100.36.
